2009 All-Beltway Boys Swimming First Team
Chantilly senior Matt Benecki put to rest any arguments as to who is the best long-distance boys swimmer in the D.C. Metropolitan Area when he obliterated his own state record by almost 5 seconds in at the Virginia AAA State meet.
Last year, Benecki won states with a time of 4:30.16, which was the fastest time ever in Virginia. Then, at the Freedom Center on February 21, he swam the 500-free in 4:25.72. It not is an automatic All-American time, but is estimated to be in the top five among U.S. high school athletes this year.
